Adolescence‘s awards season isn’t done yet: Britain’s Royal Television Society has honored the Netflix phenomenon with the most nominations for a single show ahead of the RTS Programme Awards, including nods for Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham, and Erin Doherty.
The full list of nominations for the RTS Programme Awards 2026, in partnership with Cast & Crew, were unveiled on Tuesday before the Mar. 24 ceremony with comedian-presenter Tom Allen.
Across the 29 competitive categories, the BBC leads the way with 47 nominations. The broadcaster dominated the comedy noms, receiving all four nominations in scripted comedy for Here We Go, Such Brave Girls, How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge) and Things You Should Have Done. Apple TV’s hit series Slow Horses, Channel 4’s Big Boys and ITV’s Code of Silence all received three nominations apiece across the scripted categories.
Aside from Adolescence‘s domination (you might recall the series also won eight Emmys last year), Doherty is recognized for her performance in Disney+’s A Thousand Blows with Toxic Town‘s Aimee Lou Wood and Saskia Reeves for Slow Horses. In the leading actor category, House of Guinness‘ Anthony Boyle makes the cut alongside Friel’s co-star Bobby Schofield.
For the newly expanded entertainment and reality category, the shortlist includes Race Across the World and The Celebrity Traitors, both from Studio Lambert for the BBC, and E4’s Married at First Sight UK. The Celebrity Traitors host Claudia Winkleman scores a nod for entertainment performance.
Every year, the RTS recognises the emergence of significant on-screen talent with the Breakthrough Award. For 2026, the nominees are Ellis Howard for What It Feels Like for a Girl, Kaydrah Walker-Wilkie for Just Act Normal, Maximilian Fairley for Unforgotten, and Owen Cooper for Adolescence.
