Brooks Nader sure manifested this one into being.
The swimsuit model and Love Thy Nader star, who rocked the classic Baywatch one-piece on the cover of the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, has been cast in Fox’s Baywatch reboot.
Nader’s character Selene is a Zuma Beach lifeguard constantly beefing with new, grown up Hobie Buchanon, played by Stephen Amell. More specifically, Selene is the “sharp-tongued” captain over there — watch your (tanned, oiled) back, new Hobie.
Selene is described by Fox as being “excellent at her job,” but her “very different approach to saving lives” (than Hobie’s) is “a constant source of friction between the two.
“Never on good terms, their relationship only goes downhill after Hobie brings his daughter Charlie onto his team… and it becomes clear that their rivalry goes much deeper than lifeguarding,” the character description reads.
Perhaps Selene should have watched the original Baywatch. Had she, she’d have known that’s exactly how Hobie (then played by Jeremy Jackson) got his start — under dad Mitch (David Hasselhoff).
Other previously announced castings in the Baywatch (2026) TV reboot include Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad and David Chokachi reprising his role of Cody Madison from the original series.
Baywatch was a true global sensation, running for more than 200 episodes. It spawned the bad spinoff series Baywatch Nights, a few bad made-for-television movies and a bad 2017 feature film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Alexandria Daddario.
The new Baywatch, a co-production between Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, is scheduled to launch on Fox in the 2026-27 season. The series begins table reads today, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, and will begin shooting this spring at Los Angeles’ Venice Beach and on Fox’s Century City backlot. Matt Nix is showrunner and will executive produce alongside McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz; McG will direct the series premiere episode.
Here is the new version’s synopsis:
The wild child Hobie Buchannon we all loved from the original series is now a Baywatch Captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch. Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie, the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad. OG heartthrob Cody Madison now runs The Shoreline, the unofficially official Baywatch bar-and-grill, and still puts on the red trunks for the occasional shift saving lives. He’s a mentor to and a friend, providing a second home for his fellow lifeguards… and always offering free wings after a big save.
Hulu and Freeform’s Love Thy Nader, executive produced by Jimmy Kimmel, follows Brooks and her three sisters’ personal lives and careers in New York City (and beyond). The show was recently picked up for a second season. Nader competed on season 33 of Dancing with the Stars.
Nader is represented by WME, Dixon Talent, Inc. and Leigh Fidler.
