Martin Short has postponed a string of dates on his comedy tour alongside Steve Martin following the news of his daughters death.
Katherine Short, one of Martins three children, whom he adopted with his late wife, actress Nancy Dolman, died Monday at the age of 42. Sources told TMZ that she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as the LAPD responded to her Hollywood Hills home shortly after 6 p.m on Monday. The L.A. Medical Examiner ruled her cause of death a suicide.
All of the scheduled February dates for The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short have been postponed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Steve Martin & Martin Shorts show, originally scheduled for Friday, February 27th in Milwaukee, has been postponed, a message on the venues website reads. Tickets will be honored for a future rescheduled date. We will be in contact with further news when it is available.
The duo was also scheduled to perform at Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre on Saturday, with a similar message on the venues website reading, Steve Martin & Martin Shorts shows originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28 have been postponed. Tickets will be honored for a future rescheduled date when determined.
Their next stop, scheduled for March 13 the Dar Constitutional Hall in Washington, D.C., does not share any details about the show being postponed. “It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” a rep for Martin Short said in a statement on Tuesday. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Martin and Dolman also shared two sons, Henry and Oliver. Katherine graduated from NYU in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and gender sexuality studies, and also obtained her master’s in social work from USC in 2010.
Only Murders in the Building was renewed for a sixth season in late October, with filming for the installment seemingly expected to begin in May.
