Three titles changed hands on this week’s episode of NXT television.
This week’s episode of NXT television was built on the back of not one, not two, not three, but four separate championship matches. The women’s, tag team, Speed, and North American titles were all up for grabs throughout the course of a two hour episode at the Performance Center.
But there was no way they would change each one, right?
DarkState lost the tag team titles to Vanity Project at the start of the show when Tony D’Angelo made his presence felt and made good on his promise to get back at the group. It’s a big step forward for Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes, who are just one month into their run in the promotion.
Elio LeFleur is a young cat WWE clearly sees high upside in and they confirmed as much by not just having him win a triple threat match for the Speed championship but by having him pin Jasper Troy while doing so. Eli Knight was right there for the pinning but they wanted to put him over proper.
In the main event of the evening, there was ample interference, but equalizers were everywhere and Myles Borne managed to avoid Ego’s Edge and took down Ethan Page with the Borne Again to end his record breaking reign as North American champion. That celebration sure hit different for a guy it seemed like WWE may have put a ceiling on.
The only title bout that didn’t see a change was in the women’s division, as Zaria finally fully turned on Sol Ruca to cost her the women’s championship, leaving the strap with Jacy Jayne and firmly in control of Fatal Influence.
