Dynasty: The Murdochs is a four-part documentary that details the fight to take control of the Fox News kingpins empire based on thousands of pages of documents, emails and text messages. Dynasty is billed as presenting an exhaustive history of Rupert Murdoch’s rise while homing in on the tensions that have built for decades between him, his chosen heir Lachlan, and Rupert’s three other adult children: James Murdoch, Elisabeth Murdoch and Prudence MacLeod. blogherads.adq.push(function () { blogherads .defineSlot( 'medrec', 'gpt-article-mid-article-uid0' ) .setTargeting( 'pos', ["mid-article1","mid-articleX","mid","mid-article"] ) .setTargeting( 'viewable', 'yes' ) .setSubAdUnitPath("ros\/mid-article") .addSize([[300,250],[2,2],[300,251],[620,350],[2,4],[4,2],[320,480],[620,366]]) .setClsOptimization("minsize") ; }); Related Stories Business Ted Sarandos Heads to White House as Fight Over Warner Bros. From the official description: This limited series exposes the private machinations of a family torn apart by power, politics, and a desperate desire for their father’s love. While Rupert Murdoch has spent over 80 years building an empire that shapes governments and democracies, the series poses the ultimate question: Is a dynasty a family or a business?

In the trailer (below), the comparisons to HBOs Succession — which itself was inspired by the Murdoch family — are laid bare, with one observer noting, it reads like an episode of Succession and that Murdoch wasnt raising children, he was raising possible successors, as well as, its like a family squabble on steroids that has a huge effect on our politics and our lives.

The documentary is directed by Liz Garbus and includes interviews with reporters who covered the familys revealing legal battle, including New York Times reporters Jim Rutenberg and Jonathan Mahler, as well as former Fox News employees. blogherads.adq.push(function () { blogherads .defineSlot( 'medrec', 'gpt-dsk-tab-mid-article2-uid1' ) .setTargeting( 'pos', ["mid","mid-article2","mid-articleX"] ) .setTargeting( 'viewable', 'yes' ) .setSubAdUnitPath("ros\/mid-article2") .addSize([[300,250],[300,251],[620,350],[2,4],[4,2],[320,480],[620,366]]) .setClsOptimization("minsize") ; });

Dynasty: The Murdochs will premiere on Netflix on March 13.
