Nicole Kidman Reveals Whether She's Leaving Nashville After Keith Urban Breakup
Home is where the heart is.
And for Nicole Kidman, even though the life she shared with Keith Urban in Nashville has ended, the capital of Tennessee is still where she belongs—and she has no plans to leave.
“We have our life here,” Nicole—who shares daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Keith—told Variety in an interview published March 11. “I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home.”
And indeed, within that community Nicole has some important support, such as neighbor and good friend Reese Witherspoon, whom the Lioness star said she’d gone on a long walk with the morning of her interview.
The conversation marked the first time Nicole had addressed her split with Keith, which occurred in September after 19 years of marriage, confirming she was doing well.
“I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she reflected. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect.”
As for how she’s navigating the breakup alongside being a mother, the 58-year-old said, “I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
And on a personal level, she feels a big difference between the year behind her and the one that lies ahead.
“I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell,” she said of 2025, adding, “Now in a place of saying, ‘2026. Here we go.’”
Later, the Practical Magic star expounded on what she hopes the immediate future will bring, likening her personal life to the adventures she takes onscreen—working in everything from studio films to indies, TV series and short form projects.
“I rally against limitations,” she explained. “And I’m like that in my personal life. This year and my next few years are for the adventures. I’m at a certain time in my life. I’m going to do the things I’ve always dreamt of doing that are not anything to do with work. Just to do with exploration.”
And she means that literally, having just gone on an expedition to Antarctica with Sunday and Faith in January.
“I took my sister, nieces and nephews and loads of friends on a cruise,” she said of the trip. “We met so many good people that we didn’t know. We saw penguins and sea lions. I’ve worked so hard since I was 14 on this exploration of the human spirit, and I’ve loved being global.”
As Nicole focuses on the time ahead, and fulfilling more lifelong dreams, she and Keith aren’t the only stars who have decided to part ways in recent months. Read on for more.
