The Actor Awards (previously the SAG Awards) are making their rebranded debut Sunday night as the Oscars loom just two weeks away.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s action epic “One Battle After Another” made history with a record-breaking seven nominations. It’s up for cast ensemble, stunt ensemble and acting nominations for Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor. Warner Bros.’ other awards season contender, Ryan Coogler’s vampire drama “Sinners,” was close behind with five nods. They will face off in best ensemble against Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” Chloé Zhao’s “Hamnet” and Josh Safdie’s “Marty Supreme.”
The lead actor race is one of the most competitive of the season, with Leonardo DiCaprio (“One Battle After Another”), Michael B. Jordan (“Sinners”), Timothée Chalamet (“Marty Supreme”), Ethan Hawke (“Blue Moon”) and Jesse Plemons (“Bugonia”) competing. Lead actress is between Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet”), Rose Byrne (“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”), Kate Hudson (“Song Sung Blue”), Chase Infiniti (“One Battle After Another”) and Emma Stone (“Bugonia”).
On the TV side, Apple’s comedy “The Studio” lead with five nominations including cast ensemble and acting nods for Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn and the late Catherine O’Hara. It’s up against “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Hacks” and “Only Murders in the Building” for best comedy series ensemble. The drama series ensemble is between “The Diplomat,” “Landman,” “The Pitt,” “Severance” and “White Lotus.”
Kristen Bell hosts the awards show for the second year in a row on Netflix. See the winners below as they’re announced.
