Writers Guild Awards 2026 Winners (Updating Live)

The Writers Guild Awards are underway in New York City.

“Sinners,” the supernatural horror film from filmmaker Ryan Coogler, is among the original screenplay nominees. Also in that category is the Timothée Chalamet-led ping-pong drama “Marty Supreme,” written by director Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein. Other films vying for the original screenplay prize include “Black Bag,” written by David Koepp; “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” written by Mary Bronstein; and “Weapons,” written by Zach Cregger.

Meanwhile, Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” is competing in the adapted screenplay race alongside “Bugonia,” Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” “Hamnet” and “Train Dreams.”

“Pluribus” leads the TV nominations with four nods, followed by “The Pitt” and “The Studio” with three apiece. “Pluribus” and “The Pitt” are nominated for drama series, while “The Studio” is up for comedy series. All three shows also received best new series nominations.

While there are typically two concurrent ceremonies — one in New York and another in L.A. — the WGA West canceled its annual show earlier this month as its staff remains on strike. The Writers Guild Staff Union, which went on strike on Feb. 17, is seeking higher wages and “just cause” protections in the employee discipline process.

Comedian Roy Wood, Jr. is hosting the New York show at the Edison Ballroom, and Stephen Colbert is set to receive the Walter Bernstein Award.
