All JetBlue flights were temporarily grounded early Tuesday morning, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Reports on the FAA’s website show the ground stop was enacted at 5:22 a.m. and canceled around forty minutes later at the request of the airline.
In a statement provided to The Associated Press on Tuesday, a JetBlue spokesperson said there was a “brief system outage” that had been resolved. The airline said that it had “resumed operations.”
The FAA can issue ground stops for a variety of reasons, including runway congestion, aircraft accidents, equipment outages and severe weather.
The Hill has reached out to JetBlue for comment.
The temporary grounding also comes as travelers across the nation complain about hours-long delays at airports amid the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown. Funding for DHS, which oversees the Transportation Security Administration, lapsed last month and legislation to reopen the department has been blocked by Democrats over demands for reforms to immigration enforcement.
