The Colorado Avalanche (37-9-9) open the post-Olympic stretch run on the road against the Utah Mammoth (30-23-4). Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. MT.
- Colorado entered the break 3-4-1 in its last eight games. Gabe Landeskog missed all of those games, and both Martin Necas and Devon Toews missed chunks of them. All three are healthy, and Landeskog and Necas are confirmed to be in the lineup. Toews status is yet to be determined.
- Toews, along with Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Brock Nelson, all played in the gold medal game on Sunday. Head coach Jared Bednar would not share which, if any, of them are going to sit out in Utah to get extra rest. The Avs have 13 forwards and six defensemen available, so they can sit one forward without needing to call anyone up.
- Brett Kulak makes his debut for the Avs. Colorado acquired Kulak from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Samuel Girard and a draft pick on Tuesday.
- Scott Wedgewood did not play much heading into the break, starting just one of Colorados last seven games. It appears hell play in Utah, which likely sets up Mackenzie Blackwood against the Minnesota Wild at Ball Arena on Thursday. Wedgewood gave up seven goals on 28 shots against the Montreal Canadiens in his last appearance.
- The Avs are 2-0-1 against the Mammoth this season, having lost in overtime in the only meeting at Delta Center.
- Oct. 9 vs Utah Mammoth (W, 2-1)
- Oct. 21 at Utah Mammoth (L, 4-3 OT)
- Dec. 23 vs Utah Mammoth (W, 1-0)
- Feb. 25 at Utah Mammoth

0 Reply Aarif Deen Author Reply to Brad Jacobs 12 hours ago No updates yet, but its a good sign that hes back on the ice. He skated with skills coach Mark Popovic ahead of practice earlier in the week
0 Reply Karl Keen 12 hours ago Man, this is such a tough stretch coming up. Going to be a hard game to win tonight whether or not any or all of the Olympic guys play. Mammoth always play us tough. Hopefully their rust will show. Avs just need to get through these first 5 games and then put the pedal to the metal into the playoffs.

0 Reply Jeremy 9 hours ago I understand theyre on a back to back. And maybe its more about getting them both work after a long layoff. But after a nearly 3 week break Blackwood cant start on back to back nights?? Lol..the way coaches & teams coddle goalies now is so soft.
0 Reply Ryan white Reply to Jeremy 8 hours ago Are you like dumb or something. Blackwood is starting against Minny while wedgie gets the easier game. You dont even understand how crap works. So sad I gotta be affiliated with fans like you.
0 Reply Jeremy Reply to Ryan white 6 hours ago I clearly stated I understand why theyre starting WedgewoodI disagree with the decision. Goalies can play back to backs. Especially after 3 weeks off.
Normally Id be insulted if someone called me dumb. However Ive read your comments & Ill let it slide. Youre clearly mentally retarded or have a severe learning disability. Good for you bud for being able to figure out how to post comments at all.
