The coach was offered the chance to finish the season. Tinkle, 60, confirmed he will do that. An official announcement was released later on Thursday from the university.
The move comes as no surprise. Tinkle is 176-204 in 12 seasons in Corvallis. He came perilously close to being fired in March 2021.
That season, the Beavers finished the regular season with a 14-12 record. I was told by sources that Barnes planned on firing Tinkle after the conference tournament in Las Vegas. But the coach had other ideas.
