‘F*ck is Herb doing’: Pros rip late stoppage after King Green UFC Mexico knockout win

King Green had to teach a young prospect a lesson, one that may have been a little more severe than he would have liked.

The 18-year veteran was a sizable underdog heading into his matchup with Daniel Zellhuber at UFC Mexico on Saturday, but put on a vintage performance to score the upset. Green showed his all-around game to stifle the dangerous Zellhuber before going to his signature striking to earn a knockout in the second round.

However, as Green battered Zellhuber en route to the stoppage, it looked like referee Herb Dean could have stepped in sooner to save Zellhuber some punishment. Green himself paused during the closing barrage and it still took Dean several seconds to register that the fight should be waved off.

Fighters on social media weren’t happy with Dean’s hesitance, with UFC lightweight Terrance McKinney asking, “F*ck is Herb doing? That should have been stopped way sooner.”

Aside from the officiating controversy, the 39-year-old Green’s peers were effusive in their praise for his performance as he held off Father Time for one more night.
