With their 83-82 win at Virginia on Sunday, Hokies women’s basketball earned the No. 6 seed in the 2026 ACC Tournament, which begins on Wednesday at Gas South Arena in Duluth, Ga.

Virginia Tech finished the regular season with a 22-8 (12-6 ACC) record and clinched a single bye in the conference tournament for the second straight season under head coach Megan Duffy. It owned tiebreakers over three of the four other teams on the single-bye line — Syracuse, Virginia and Clemson — which secured a nice spot in the bracket.

Here’s what the week ahead looks like:

The Hokies struggled with four of the top-five teams this year, but they miss three of them, with Duke, NC State and Notre Dame on the other side of the bracket. There’s a potential matchup with Louisville in the semifinals, but that would require getting past North Carolina in the quarterfinals — a team they should’ve beaten on Feb. 19 in Cassell Coliseum.

Tech led for 30:53 of the 45 minutes but couldn’t hold off the Tar Heels in overtime in the 66-63 defeat. It played well, though, and a rematch could be in the works on Friday night in Duluth.

First, Duffy & Co. will face either No. 11 seed Georgia Tech or No. 14 seed Florida State. Earlier this season on Jan. 25, the Yellow Jackets beat the Seminoles 80-69.

Their matchup will cap off the first day of the ACC Tournament — a 4 p.m. ET tip on the ACC Network, with the winner advancing to play the Hokies in the second round at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Virginia Tech hammered FSU 79-54 in Tallahassee back on Dec. 18, which was its second ACC contest of the year. It saw GT more recently on Feb. 22 in Cassell Coliseum, a 62-51 Hokies win.
