Newcastle vs Barcelona: as it happened
We'll leave it there for tonight, but that's not all the action we've got this week.
The small matter of Manchester City taking on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu is coming up tomorrow!
And AS USA are all over it...
A late, late equaliser for Barcelona.
An even game for the xG fans
According to the xG boffins, a 1-1 score was a fair result.
For me, the best player on the pitch was tasked with marking one of the best players in the world, and he did a stunning job of it. Hall was all over Lamine Yamal for 90 minutes, beating him on and off the ball, winning duels against the winger and creating chances of his own.
The home side will rue their missed chances in the first half and that late mistake from Thiaw to lose his focus and leave a leg out that Olmo duly tripped over.
Nevertheless, it was a fantastic performance from Howe's players and they can take a lot of confidence into the Camp Nou second leg next week.
Here's how Sofascore saw the game
The boffins over at Sofascore HQ have pulled together this lovely graphic of tonight's action.
What a dramatic ending to a game that could have gone either way.
Newcastle deserved their goal and I'd say the win, as they were more adventurous than a reserved and, at times, overwhelmed Barcelona.
A late Harvey Barnes goal looked to have sealed a historic win for the home side to take to Spain, but an even later foul on Olmo allowed Lamine Yamal to slot home the penalty and draw level with no time left on the clock.
He went to his left, and so did Ramsdale. It's so quiet the stadium's resident mouse can be heard typing on his tiny laptop.
We were well over the 4 minutes, but play continued. Raphinha played into Olmo, who was tripped by Thiaw.
Lamine Yamal will take the kick...
OLMO GOES DOWN! THIAW TRIPS HIM!
WE ARE OVER THE TIME BUT BARÇA HAVE A PENALTY!
Newcastle are playing through the pressure, they are not losing sight of what would be a sensational win.
Barcelona scramble to clear the ball as Newcastle want more!
Barcelona are holding onto the ball in an attempt to calm the electricitycrackling from all four sides of the stadium,
Back underway. St. James' Park bouncing.
A one-two beats Cancelo down the right and the ball is put into the danger area.
The former Leicester City man sneaks in behind Raphinha and is all alone just yards from goal to tap in past Joan García. Barcelona switched off completely for a criminally long time and were rightly punished.
A long ball looks destined for Ronald Araujo's boot but the centre-back, who tries his best to turn into prime Piqué, falls over and watches his chance at glory sail behind for a goal-kick.

Rashford is fed by Raphinha and the Englishman darts inside before seeing his shot from the edge of the box blocked by a defender.
Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass... Barcelona try to work their way into the Magpies' nest, but they can't find a hole to bore into and instead play back to Joan García. The crowd applauds the defensive effort.
Rashford gets in behind his man but the cross is overhit and lands at Lamine Yamal's feet on the other side of the pitch.
Into the final 10 as Newcastle push for a winner...
Screams of fury come from Gordon and Murphy as Livramento is in behind and has two teammates to his right, yards from goal, with Barcelona scrambling.
The full-back doesn't opt to share out the joy, instead choosing to go alone, and promptly loses the ball.
Hall gets the better of Lamine Yamal once again. He's had him on tostada all evening.
Fifteen minutes of normal time to go...
Livramento strikes the post as Joelinton scores on the follow-up... but it's offside!
A superb counter from Newcastle had Barcelona scrambling!
Marc Casadó is preparing to come on in his place.
Barça forced into a series of defensive headers as Newcastle pile on the pressure. The ball goes over García's goal and behind after a volleyed effort from Murphy flashes over the bar.
