NHL trade deadline: Grading all the big deals completed this trade season

NHL trade season is well underway. There have been significant trades going back to the fall but the “trade season” really kicked off in a big way in December when the Vancouver Canucks sent Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild.

We’ve been dishing out Trade Grades analysis ever since. Here they all are so far, with many more to come ahead of the 3 p.m. ET deadline on March 6.

Maple Leafs get a win in sending Nicolas Roy to Avalanche

Avalanche get: Center Nicolas Roy Maple Leafs get: First-round pick in 2027 (top 10 protected), conditional fifth-round pick in 2026

Maple Leafs grade: A+Avalanche grade: C

Oilers make win-now bet on Jason Dickinson, Blackhawks get great return

Oilers get: Centre Jason Dickinson, forward Colton Dach Blackhawks get: Forward Andrew Mangiapane, first-round pick in 2027

Mammoth make a smart bet on MacKenzie Weegar, boosting their blue line

Mammoth get: Defenseman MacKenzie Weegar Flames get: Defenseman Olli Määttä, prospect Jonathan Castagna and three 2026 second-round picks

Mammoth grade: A- Flames grade: B+

Tyler Myers fills an obvious need for Stars at a reasonable price

Stars get: D Tyler Myers Canucks get: Second-round draft pick in 2027, fourth-round pick in 2029 (also retain 50 percent of Myers’ remaining contract)

Stars grade: B+ Canucks grade: B+

Wild pay big for size and grit of center Michael McCarron

Wild get: Center Michael McCarron Predators get: 2028 second-round draft pick

Wild grade: C+ Predators grade: A+

Connor Murphy worth the price to improve Oilers’ blue line, penalty kill
