The Chicago Bears made a splash when they traded wide receiver DJ Moore (and a fifth-round pick) to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a second-round pick.
Moore was set to carry a $28.5 million salary cap hit for the Bears in 2026, and given the influx of young weapons on the roster, it makes sense. Moore is coming off his worst statistical season, with 50 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns, but he played a key role for Chicago down the stretch.
Moore played a key role for the Bears last season, both on the field and as a leader in a young receiver room featuring Rome Odunze and rookies Luther Burden III and Jahdae Walker. Walker, who saw time on the field as an undrafted rookie, shared his reaction to the news of the trade, which included an inspiring message from Moore that left Walker heartbroken.
"Go be great and be you," Moore wrote Walker. "Shine bright Luke you do (and) make yourself into the player/man you wanna be lil bro."
Walker responded: "Preciate you bro! Gonna miss you man."
Walker and Moore played a key role in one of the biggest wins of last season, when the Bears orchestrated an improbable comeback against the Green Bay Packers. Walker caught the game-tying touchdown on fourth down to force overtime while Moore caught the game-winner to seal the deal and help lead to Chicago's NFC North championship.
