The iPhone Fold is six months away from launching, and according to a new leak, its crease-free display will soon hit a major milestone: entering mass production.

iPhone Fold display panel expected to start mass production in May

This week brought several new details about Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone.

Bloomberg reported on iOS 27 software changes that will enable iPad-like app features on the foldable, and reports yesterday highlighted hardware features like RAM and storage, along with expected pricing.

Now today, leaker Instant Digital has posted a new update. It covers the iPhone Fold’s single most important component: the expected ‘crease-free’ display.

He says that the iPhone Fold display panels, which will be provided by Samsung, are slated to begin mass production in May.

This follows a prior post from Instant Digital last month saying that mass production for the complete iPhone Fold device is scheduled for July.

In January at CES, Samsung showed off a prototype of its latest-generation folding screen technology. It provided a great look at what to expect from the iPhone Fold—especially compared side-by-side with prior folding displays.

The first Samsung foldable launched seven years ago. In the intervening years there have been plenty of rumors about Apple investigating folding display technology. Per reports, however, it held off launching a foldable iPhone until a crease-free design could be achieved.

All signs indicate this is finally the year that’s happened.
